Tottenham Hotspur have got four players in international action in both the Copa America and the Africa Cup of Nations.

Defenders Serge Aurier, Davison Sanchez and Juan Foyth as well as midfielder Victor Wanyama are all representing their respective nations in the international tournament through the summer.

Aurier, 26, captained Ivory Coast to a 1-0 victory over South Africa in their opening game at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cairo, Egypt on Monday afternoon.

Playing the full 90 minutes at right-back, Aurier saw his nation pick up maximum points in Group D thanks to Jonathan Kodjia's 64th-minute goal.

The result puts them level on points with Morocco, who beat Namibia by the same scoreline on Sunday.

Ivory Coast will face Morocco on Friday in their second match of the group stages before facing Namibia.

Team-mate Victor Wanyama didn't have as much luck in Kenya's opening match of the tournament, however, as his nation lost 2-0 to Algeria on Sunday.

Elsewhere, in the Copa America both Foyth and Sanchez have progressed into the quarter-finals of the competition.

The 21-year-old defender Foyth came in for his first appearance of the competition in Brazil, having been on the bench for Argentina's opening two fixtures, and played 85 minutes in a 2-0 victory over Qatar.

The result ensured Argentina will advance to the last eight as runners-up in Group B behind Davinson's Colombia, who kept up their 100 per cent record at the tournament with a 1-0 win over Paraguay.

Centre-back Davinson was an unused substitute in that match as coach Carlos Queiroz rotated his side.

Argentina will face Group A runners-up Venezuela in the quarter-finals in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.

Colombia will face Chile in their quarter-final tie the following night.
