A four-year-old girl found stabbed to death on a Lower Clapton housing estate was not known to Hackney social services, it has emerged.
The disembowelled body of the child, who can now not be named for legal reasons, was found by emergency services at about 3:30pm on December 16 last year.
Her mother, 36, was arrested at the scene and sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
She remains in a secure unit and has been bailed until next month pending further inquiries and her assessment.
A council spokesman said: “We can confirm the child was not known to Hackney Children’s Services.”
An inquest opened at Poplar Coroner’s Court on December 20 and was adjourned. The next hearing is scheduled for February 21.
