The Gazette hunts high and low each week to bring you news of the most interesting and unusual new businesses in Hackney. This week we speak to a woman who’s opened a foodie market stall – for dogs.

Foodie markets are popping up all over London offering tasty treats of all shapes and sizes – but usually they are for humans.

Jackie Crank, owner of pet shop Pack and Clowder in Chatsworth Road, is out to change that. She’s opened a stall at the new Victoria Park Market called Dog Deli.

“I just thought it would be really good to sell treats for dogs and it’s going really well. I do a pick and mix with deer trotters, Himalayan yak’s milk chews, and MSC certified Salmon and Rosemary jerky.”

Jackie, who has lived in Stoke Newington for 25 years, opened Pack and Clowder after working in retail for other people for years. I thought there was a gap in the market,” she said. “You could either get really posh dog stuff which isn’t accessible or pack ’em high sell ’em cheap pet shops with everything stuffed in there. I’m a modern dog owner and want good food for my dog and a shop that looks good.”
