Each week, the Gazette takes to the streets to discover the best start ups in Hackney. This week, we speak to three teenagers about their idea to develop talent in the borough.

A group of young entrepreneurs have set up their own events platform to showcase young talent in Hackney.

Teens Julia Samboma, Basil Malik and Deandra Chambers, all 18, set up 8Eyez in Dalston at the beginning of this summer.

“All of our friends are creative but because we are so young, we couldn’t find a venue to let us show our work,” said Julia. “So I did an enterprise course at Bootstrap College and teamed up with our community officer Kirstie Davide to set up our own”.

The group hosted their launch party on Monday, opening the stage to a range of young talent from singers and spoken word artists to rappers.

The launch also saw a range of stalls by up-and-coming entrepreneurs. To find out more or to showcase your work email info@8eyez.uk
