Founders of an arts organisation who hope to set up Dalston’s first affordable workplace with adjoining creche believe it could turn out to be the antidote to London’s “exorbitant” childcare costs, and rescue parents from the “middle ages”.
Tara Cranswick, CEO of V22, claims childcare in Hackney is 39 per cent more expensive than outside the capital. She wants to make childcare provision an integral part of their studio and workspace in Ashwin Street, and hopes to raise £31,495 to make the dream a reality.
She said: “While society has kept up with the flexible and creative ways we want to live and work, parenthood suddenly sends us back to the middle ages. There is no reason we should have to choose between being great parents and great makers – the world just needs better solutions.
