A Stoke Newington choir group will raise money to help rebuild the devastated island of Antigua and Barbuda.
The entire population of the Caribbean country has been left homeless after Hurricane Irma, according to the Prime Minister.
Chorus of Dissent, based at St Matthias Church in Wordsworth Road, will be performing with the Elastic Band orchestra at Stoke Newington Town Hall on Saturday to raise cash for the Rebuild Barbuda Appeal Fund.
The Barbudan High Commissioner Karen Mae-Hill will be guesting as a conductor for her song of choice, Hallelujah.
Member Jackie Ambrosini said: “Last year’s gala concert raised £7,5000 for Hackney Refugee Centre, we’d like to top that for this deserving cause.”
The event, Tubular Bells and Two Hallelujahs, starts at 5.30pm. Tickets are £11 and can be bought here, with some tickets on the door at £15.
