Stoke Newington Road was closed this afternoon as fire crews cut the roof off the car of a man suffering from a back and neck injury.

The man aged in his 50s was hurt when his car collided with a van at the junction with Brighton Road at around 12.30pm.

A police spokesman said: “The complainant had back and neck injuries so they were cautious how they got him out of the vehicle.”

The man was taken to an East London hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life changing.
