Hackney Council has commissioned street artist Tony J Driver to paint the 150th bike hangar in the borough, which will be the first of many to be decorated.
The decorated hangar, unveiled at the Hackney Cycle Conference this year, has been placed in Gore Road, near Victoria Park.
The units which keep bikes safe and dry and come with security coded keys, cost Hackney residents £30 a year to use, while the council covers the outstanding £30 cost.
A spokesman said: “The bike hangars are part of the council’s commitment to encouraging cycling as part of its drive towards sustainable transport.
“Painted hangars will be commissioned to mark milestones in the delivery of Hackney’s bike hangars and to raise the profile of local artists.”
