Mauricio Pochettino will once again be without a number of key players when Spurs travel to Goodison Park

Tottenham Hotspur’s injury list shows no signs of decreasing before Christmas with the Lilywhites set to be without five key players for Sunday’s clash at Everton.

Spurs make the trip up to Merseyside for their final Premier League fixture before Christmas.

And regardless of the result, Mauricio Pochettino’s team will be in the top four come the visit of AFC Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

The Argentinian will continue to be missing various key personnel when Spurs take on the Toffees at Goodison Park.

In the club’s latest team news post, they revealed Eric Dier had been discharged from hospital after he had his appendix removed and is now due to commence rehab after the encounter with Everton.

There was also better news regarding Jan Vertonghen, who has started to work back out on the grass again while he recovers from a thigh problem.

It seems the Belgian may return for Spurs before the year is out, although he will aim to be available for the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 29, not the Bournemouth match.

Victor Wanyama continues to be plagued by a knee issue, however, and he is still not able to return to the training field yet.

The news for Serge Aurier and Mousa Dembele is more positive though, as the Ivory Coast international and Belgium midfielder have entered the final stages of rehab.

Right-back Aurier is making his way back to full fitness from a groin injury while the skilful Dembele is still out with an ankle problem.

Both could be in contention in the near future for Tottenham and it will be a boost for Pochettino when they return, although in their absence, the likes of Kyle Walker-Peters and Oliver Skipp have stepped up and impressed for the N17 outfit.
