New partnerships between a digital skills platform, a London property company and Tech City bosses will mean that young people are to have even more opportunities to get involved in tech.

The development of the wearedotdotdot platform is being supported by British Land, with a specific focus on recruiting young people from Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Islington and Newham.

British Land’s new development, Blossom Street, located in Spitalfields will provide space for small and growing business in the sector and more than 2,600 jobs.

It was also announced on Monday (June 15), the start of London Technology Week that wearedotdotdot has partnered with of Tech London – a London-wide jobs information resource.

This will mean young people can find and share available job opportunities with greater ease and see which digital skills they need to land coveted roles.

Jess Tyrrell, founder of wearedotdotdot, said: “wearedotdotdot is established now and because of that we are entering into a partnership with Tech London – this wider resource for London has been launched at London Technology Week to connect all the opportunities across London together.

“There will be a map where all the start ups and SMEs are and what they do.”

Updates to the platform will also mean a more personalised search and companies will be able to display the specific skills they need.

Jess added: “This is really interesting if you want to get a job in the sector and we have become a content partner because, as well as what the businesses are, and the jobs that we have available, we will also show you what opportunities there are to learn the skills to get those jobs. We want to get east London people into the sector and this makes it quite easy for young people to see where they can get digital skills and then see where they can get London jobs.

“This is really part of London’s technology infrastructure growing.”

Jess said the support from Blossom Street was integral to building up the technology infrastructure of east London.

She said: “This makes it so much easier for young people in Tower Hamlets especially. It’s about connecting and inclusion.

“We have received more funding to enable us to work very specifically in Tower Hamlets, adding more content and really focusing on those young people.

“We are also really excited we can focus those resources and think there are loads of talented people who need to know about these and find their way into this world.

“For example, for junior developers they are starting on an annual salary of about £32,000. With the right skills the future in tech for young people here is very bright and this is all helping them be connected to that.”
