Craft beer boozer The Pembury Tavern has closed its doors for a month while its new owners Five Points Brewery carry out major renovation work.

Five Points bought the pub earlier this year for use as its first taphouse. The brewery, which formed in 2011, sits yards from the tavern in Institute Place and is named after the junction on which it sits.

After months of discussions on how best to use the space, the pub will now shut while adaptions are made. Five Points has stressed it will be a “sympathetic fresh up rather than a root and branch overhaul”.

The brewery said on Twitter: “Thank you to everyone who’s visited The Pembury and given us feedback over the past few months. We’ll be sharing the renovation process over the next few weeks with you all so keep an eye out!”
