Three pubs in Hackney have been temporarily closed following investigations by Hackney police’s licensing unit.

The Kingsland Pub in Kingsland Road will be shut for 28 days following a drugs warrant which saw one man arrested with possession with intent to supply a class B drug, namely cannabis.

Meanwhile following a police cadet operation targeting pubs selling alcohol to underage patrons, both the Yucatan Public House in Stoke Newington High Street and the Brewery Tap pub in Kingsland Road will be closed from October 26 to November 5, as a formal sanction in lieu of prosecution.

Inspector Ian Simpkins from the licensing unit, said, “My team is committed to ensuring that people on a night out in Hackney can enjoy themselves in the knowledge that the venue where they are socialising is not engaged in criminality or a breach of its licensing conditions.

“Dalston is an increasingly popular venue for a night out and we want to ensure that it stays safe for everybody.”
