Discover Young Hackney wants to find five 13-19 year old singers to headline in the ‘I’m In’ talent contest on 4 February 2011 - the official launch of Discover Young Hackney 2011, the borough’s free youth arts and culture festival.

Cllr Jonathan McShane, Hackney Council Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “Hackney is full of talented young people, and the ‘I’m In’ talent contest gives you an opportunity to get on stage and show an audience what you’ve got.

“It’s also a great way to open the Council’s Discover Young Hackney festival.”

Discover Young Hackney, now in its fifth year, promotes participation and training in the arts for young people through a range of taster sessions and workshops run by creative professionals in music, dance, radio, art, literature, photography, design, singing, film and theatre.

The festival also showcases some of the best of the borough’s cultural industries.
