Five Spurs players got minutes during the Group G action at the weekend while three failed to get on the pitch

It was a memorable couple of days for the Tottenham Hotspur players involved in Group G after both Belgium and England recorded high-scoring wins.

On Saturday, the Red Devils dismantling of Tunisia saw two members of the Spurs squad feature.

Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld started at the back for Belgium and although Roberto Martinez’s men conceded twice, they triumphed 5-2.

The victory was achieved thanks to a brace by Eden Hazard and a Romelu Lukaku double with Michy Batshuayi netting late on.

Alderweireld assisted Hazard’s second and stoked some fire ahead of England’s game with Panama a day later.

Spurs’ centre back tweeted how Lukaku was a GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) which hit a nerve with a lot of Tottenham supporters.

Harry Kane and the Three Lions responded in perfect fashion on Sunday when they thrashed Panama.

Gareth Southgate watched his team put six past the minnows in an accomplished first 45 display.

Kane grabbed a hat-trick with two penalties during the opening half and his third goal in the 62nd minute when he inadvertently deflected Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s long range effort into the net.

The Tottenham forward was replaced soon after having also played a part in John Stones’ second goal where a free kick routine worked perfectly.

Kieran Trippier again impressed at right wing-back and helped England score their first with an accurate corner which found John Stones perfectly to break the deadlock in the eighth minute.

He then played a lofted ball over the top for Jesse Lingard to win Three Lions their first penalty in the 20th minute.

Trippier continued to be a threat throughout before he was replaced by club team-mate Danny Rose with 70 on the clock.

Eric Dier remained an unused substitute while Dele Alli missed out with a slight thigh injury and for Belgium, Mousa Dembele didn’t come off the bench during their rout over Tunisia.

England and the Red Devils’ big wins see both countries at the top of Group G with identical records ahead of their battle for top spot on Thursday evening.
