Spurs suffered a 3-1 loss at home to the Premier League champions on Saturday on a sobering night for the north Londoners
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino was disappointed with the goals his side conceded to Manchester City on Saturday night in the Premier League, but is certain they will respond positively at Brighton & Hove Albion this week.
Spurs started terribly against Pep Guardiola’s team at Wembley Stadium and found themselves two goals down inside 25 minutes.
The first occurred after a routine long ball forward from Vincent Kompany was taken down and finished impressively by Gabriel Jesus after Davinson Sanchez had switched off.
City made it 2-0, three minutes later, in the 25th minute when Kieran Trippier gave the ball away and Ilkay Gundogan played Raheem Sterling through and he beat home goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to the ball and won a penalty.

Replays showed the original contact was outside the area, but referee Jon Moss pointed to the spot and Gundogan made no mistake as City cruised to a 3-1 win.
It left Pochettino frustrated, but not too worried ahead of Spurs’ next league clash at Brighton on Tuesday.

He said: “I’m not concerned because we have just gone 14 games without a defeat in the Premier League and the last defeat was against Man City and now we lose a game again and it is to Man City.
“I am not concerned and the most important thing now is to be ready for Tuesday. Of course the way we conceded the goals, I am disappointed, but for the players too and for me there is nothing to worry.
“Now the most important thing is to be ready for Tuesday and to compete at Brighton and I think this season we are doing so well.
“We want to be in the top-four and we have the semi-final on Saturday (against Man United), so there are plenty of things to think about and move on with.
“Of course when you play Man City you are playing against a team at a very good level and they came to us after a not so good period over the last three games and it can be dangerous (to play them after this period).
“They have unbelievable players and players who, when they are focused and aggressive, can perform in the way they showed against us.”
After finishing above Man City during the 2015/16 campaign and the 2016/17 season, Spurs will be a number of points off the title winners come May 13.
Pochettino was asked what Tottenham need to do in order to move back ahead of the league champions next term.
He admitted both clubs have contrasting philosophies with City able to spend a larger amount of money on their squad than Spurs, who have to try and develop younger talent, and this isn’t factoring in the gulf in wages the two teams are offering.
“You know, the people know and we know we are working in a different way to Man City and we cannot compare ourselves to them,” said Pochettino.
“Of course we need to work hard to try to achieve and reach the level of Man City and I think we still need to work a lot.
“The way we try you never know; maybe one day we can reach this level and of course you want this and work hard, but sometimes it is not easy.
“If you listen to Pep or Mou (Jose Mourinho) and different managers they say ‘we need to invest, we need to invest and bring in more quality or different stars’ and in our club we have a different philosophy.
“This is why all we are doing is fantastic because we are working with different tools.”
