The South Korean is playing like a superstar right now - the Spurs crowd were on their feet every time he touched the ball on Saturday

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has paid tribute to Heung-min Son after another stunning display from the South Korean last weekend.

Harry Kane netted a brace for Spurs on Saturday as they cruised to a 4-0 win at home to Everton in the Premier League.

Son opened the scoring and was the star of the show though, creating Kane’s first with a mesmerising roulette and playing a part in Christian Eriksen’s late strike.

When asked about the improvement of the 25-year-old, Tottenham’s boss was keen to give all the plaudits to the ex-Bayer Leverkusen attacker.

Pochettino said: “We work hard as staff, all of the sports scientists, the medical staff to try and help the players, but for me the person who deserves the credit is ‘Sonny’.

“Of course we work and we talk, but at the end it’s always about the talent and belief of the player and to show what they have inside. I think of course we talk to him a lot, but he deserves the credit.”

After a slow start to the season, Son is bang in form now and already has 11 goals to his name in all competitions.

The former Hamburg forward only found the net once during his opening 11 appearances of the campaign, in the 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund, although did impress during the APOEL victory as well as the goalless draw with Swansea City.

However, it was the 4-1 thrashing over Liverpool on October 22 where Son appeared to win over some more trust from Pochettino.

Even during his excellent run of form last season, if a player from the front three or four needed to be dropped, it would generally be the Tottenham number seven.

Yet, since scoring in the three-goal win over the Reds, Son has starred and scored in further victories over Crystal Palace, Dortmund, APOEL, Stoke City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Southampton and now Everton.

He has also impressed in draws with West Ham United, Watford and West Bromwich Albion, but it has not been all plain-sailing for the fans favourite.

Son failed to have an impact during defeats at Manchester United, Leicester City and Manchester City.

But, on the whole, the majority of his displays since running riot against Liverpool have been of the highest quality, which Pochettino was keen to point out on Saturday.

“It was a great performance from him, but it’s not only now. For three months we are talking about ‘Sonny’s’ performances and he’s showing more,” said the Argentinean.

“He’s more mature than last season and he’s showing that in his performances and he’s helping the team a lot.

“Everyone can see his belief and confidence and he’s showing this in every game and it’s fantastic. He’s doing so well this season.”

Son ended the 2016/17 campaign with 21 goals, but the way he is going you would bet on him beating that tally this time around.

With Kane, Dele Alli and Eriksen alongside him in attack, he doesn’t always get the credit he deserves.

But watching the crowd come alive on Saturday whenever he got the ball shows the Lilywhites faithful are appreciating him more than ever right now and he’s slowly turning into a superstar.

Pochettino added: “We give him the credit he deserves and for us he is a very important player and he is doing so well.

“Of course, like always, when you play next to a player like Harry, who is breaking a record every week, it’s difficult to focus on another player, but as a coaching staff, we always give credit to people who deserve it and ‘Sonny’ deserves a lot of credit.”
