After defeating APOEL 3-0 on Wednesday night under the Wembley lights, can Spurs make it back-to-back wins at home?

Spurs will look to get their top-four challenge back on track over the next seven days when they play twice at Wembley in the Premier League.

A month ago, Tottenham Hotspur had just beaten Crystal Palace 1-0 under the arch to go joint-second with Manchester United on 23 points from their 11 fixtures.

Chelsea were in fourth and a point back while Liverpool and Arsenal were trailing further behind on 19 points.

Fast forward a month and the Lilywhites haven’t won in the division since seeing off Palace at the national stadium and ahead of hosting Stoke City on Saturday, they need to put that right.

Last weekend they drew 1-1 at Watford to lose more ground in the race for the top-four with Mauricio Pochettino’s men now in sixth position – three behind fifth-placed Arsenal and four off Liverpool in fourth.

Ben Davies admits it is vital Spurs don’t slip up at home to Stoke this weekend, he said: “It’s just a case of taking every game as it comes and not letting the gap get any bigger.

“We need to keep working hard, keep putting the performances in and on the training pitch we’re there every day giving it our all, so hopefully it can translate into our games.”

The 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road could perhaps be a turning point for Tottenham in the Premier League – considering they had to play most of the second half with 10-men.

Davinson Sanchez was shown a straight red card in the 52nd minute, but the Hornets were unable to find a winner after Heung-min Son’s 25th-minute tap-in had cancelled out Christian Kabasele’s early opener.

It was a somewhat encouraging result for Spurs, even if they did see other clubs competing for the Champions League places win.

Harry Winks made his return from illness off the bench last weekend and he was keen to draw on the positives after the match.

The midfielder said: “You have to give credit to Watford. I thought they played well and we have to look at ourselves, but I thought we played well, so it was a good game from us.

“You don’t get the rub of the green sometimes and I don’t think we got it on a few occasions, but in football that happens.”

Spurs will look to halt their four-match winless streak in the league on Saturday before hosting Brighton & Hove Albion next Wednesday (December 13).
