Mauricio Pochettino’s team are at home in five of the six Premier League games they play after appearing in the Champions League group stages

The 2017/18 Premier League fixture lists was revealed this morning and it gave Tottenham Hotspur an early chance to look at who they face after playing in the Champions League.

Spurs were back in Europe’s elite last season, but struggled and ended up going out in the group stages.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted a poor period in October and November was the main reason Tottenham failed to pip Chelsea to the title as well.

It was during this period where Spurs failed to juggle playing in the Premier League and Champions League.

Last season Tottenham played four times away from home after appearing in Europe, therefore only twice at White Hart Lane.

This time around it is much different and Spurs will also not face as many big clubs either after playing in the Champions League.

During the 2016/17 campaign, Tottenham hosted Sunderland and Manchester City after European matches and visited Bournemouth, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Although Spurs beat the Black Cats and City, they could only pick up single points at the Cherries and Gunners and lost by the odd goal at Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford.

This time around Tottenham are set to host Swansea City on September 16, days after match day one of the Champions League.

Pochettino’s team will travel to Huddersfield Town on September 30, which is after the second round of European fixtures.

Tottenham’s hardest game after a Champions League match is on October 21 when they host Liverpool.

Next up for Spurs after playing in Europe is a home fixture with Crystal Palace on November 4.

As we reach crunch time in the Champions League group stages on match day five, Tottenham will entertain West Brom days later on November 25.

And the final match in the group stages will take place on December 5 or 6 and after, Spurs will welcome Stoke City to Wembley on December 9.

In comparison to last season, Tottenham’s Premier League fixture list after competing in Europe is much kinder this time around.

Pochettino’s side have five home games and will therefore look to improve in one of the areas they struggled in during the 2016/17 campaign.

Tottenham dropped 10 points last season after playing in the Champions League and only picked up eight out of a maximum 18.

An improved total in the upcoming campaign could potentially be the difference between success and failure for Spurs in the Premier League.
