Premier League: Tottenham Hotspur 3 Fulham 1

Spurs secured a dominant 3-1 victory against Premier League new boys Fulham in their first home match of the season at Wembley.

Second-half goals from England stars Kieran Tripper and Harry Kane helped bag the three points after an early goal from Lucas Moura that was cancelled out by a Fulham equaliser from Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Manager Maurico Pochettino made two changes from the side who defeat Newcastle 2-1 last weekend as they brought back in World Cup stars Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld in place of Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko who dropped to the bench.

The visitors made three changes of their own from their 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace with new signings Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa in as well as Aboubakar Kamara.

The trio replaced Cyrus Christie, Kevin McDonald and Andre Schurrle who all dropped to the bench for the clash.

Tottenham got off to a dominant start with Lucas Moura heading just wide at the back post after left-back Ben Davies picked him out with a cross in the fifth minute.

A minute later Moura continued to cause problems as he broke through one on one with goalkeeper Fabri but took him out on his way through.

Striker Harry Kane grabbed the ball and fired it into the open goal but it was flagged down and given as a foul against Moura.

They continued to put Fulham under the cosh as Kieran Tipper whipped a corner into the box and found Alderweireld but his header was comfortably held.

In the 14th minute Kane appealed for a penalty when he was brought down by Fosu-Mensah after Christian Eriksen burst down the right flank and threaded the ball in for him.

The Cottagers finally managed to break down the play and got the ball up the pitch to Ryan Sessenon, who drove down the right, played a one two with Tom Cairney, before drilling a shot on goal but it went out for a corner.

Spurs came straight back them as Dele Alli held the ball up and left it for Eriksen who fired shot wide of the right post.

Six minutes later Cairney had a dig but Hugo Lloris got his hand to it before Tottenham had another few chances of their own.

Lloris had to come up trumps for the hosts in the 39th minute when he raced out and stole the ball from Sessegnon who found himself all alone in the box.

The hosts finally grabbed the lead in the 43rd minute when Moura latched onto a loose ball just inside the box and rocketed a shot off the left post and in to make it 1-0 before half-time.

Early in the second-half Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic hit the post with an effort.

Then Alli went close as he chested down a ball into the path of his feet and volleyed a shot on target but Fabri blocked it.

Fulham equalised in the 52nd minute when striker Mitrovic headed home at the back post as Sessegnon slotted it across the goal after being picked out with a long ball.

In the 65th minute Alli missed a golden opportunity as took an extra touch when shot-stopper Fabri was flapping around in his own box and before he shot the keeper recovered himself.

Spurs won a free-kick ten minutes later when Alli was brought down, Tripper stepped up and fired it into the left corner to put them back in front in the match.

In the 78th minute Kane finally broke his August drought as he curled a shot into the bottom right after being played through by substitute Erik Lamela who made a cracking run.
