Premier League: Spurs 1 Watford 1

Dele's late equaliser after a VAR review rescued a point for Spurs as they drew 1-1 with Watford at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Abdoulaye Doucoure had given the Hornets the lead six minutes into the game but Dele's equaliser prevented a fourth league defeat of the season for Mauricio Pochettino's men.

Watford took the lead when Danny Rose misjudged Craig Cathcart's ball over the top before Daryl Janmaat picked out Abdoulaye Doucoure who finished past Paulo Gazzaniga from inside the box.

Tottenham's first bit of promising play came when Dele teed up Moussa Sissoko who blasted over the bar from range.

There were huge cries for a penalty on 16 minutes when Rose went down under Roberto Pereryra's challenge inside the box but the referee thought otherwise.

Dele was involved again six minutes later, forcing Ben Foster into a smart save down low from his effort.

The home side had a heart in mouth moment when Gerard Deulofeu went down under Jan Vertonghen's challenge in the box but after going to VAR, the decision was made that it was not a penalty.

Five minutes before half-time, Lucas Moura headed over from a cross as Spurs continued to push for an equaliser.

But the Hornets went in at the break with a one-goal advantage as Pochettino's side struggled to break down their opponents.

Heung-Min Son was introduced for Davinson Sanchez for the second half as Spurs changed from a three at the the back to four.

And Son almost found an equaliser three minutes after the restart when his powerful strike cannoned back off the bar from inside the box.

But the Hornets countered as Deulofeu squared for Pererya, whose effort was blocked out for a corner.

On 57 minutes, Doucoure dodged a number of tackles in midfield before playing in Janmaat, who scuffed his shot in front of goal before Son forced Foster into a save at the other end.

A mix up between Dele and Harry Winks allowed danger man Doucoure a shot at goal on 63 minutes but his effort trickled wide.

As Spurs continued to look for a way back into the game, Dele almost got on the end of substitute Erik Lamela's whipped cross.

Deulofeu's free-kick was caught by Gazzaniga after the attacker was brought down by Sissoko, who went into the book.

But Spurs were level three minutes from time when Dele pounced following Foster's failure to claim the ball to bring his side level.

VAR was consulted for a possible handball, with Watford also appealing for a possible foul, but the goal was given to hand Spurs a point.
