A fan of Delilah, who was given the chance to make her own version of the hit-song Go, was gobsmacked when the pop star herself surprised her during filming.

Media student Hawa Ghanti was given a unique taste of stardom last night, as millions of viewers will watch her performing the video remake, directed by award-winning director Emil Nava, in the 2013 BRIT pop awards ad breaks.

The 18-year old who lives off Dalston Lane was one of three winners in the ‘Priceless Remakes’ competition run by BRIT sponsor MasterCard, which asked fans to film thier own Rita Ora, Conor Maynard or Delilah music video.

Delilah, who shot to fame after collaborating with Chase and Status on the single “Time”, picked fellow Hackney resident Hawa’s remake as her favourite. Ms Ghanti said the experience was incredible: “Being on set with all the crew, having my hair and make-up done, I received the complete star treatment, but being surprised by Delilah really blew me away,” she said. “We had so much fun finishing my remake together as she was lovely and supportive.” Delilah meanwhile was happy to give something back to her fans. The Shoreditch resident is still reeling after touring Australia with pop legend Prince last year.

“It definitely changed my life,” said the 22-year old.

“I’m rarely star struck but meeting him was really humbling and it felt really good to know someone I respect so much likes my music and was a fan of what I was doing.

“It gives you that reassurance you are on the right path.

“He approached me, it was weird. A good weird.

“He phoned and said he was a fan, and I flew out to Australia. He’s a really lovely guy, I got on with him really well.”

“It definitely gave me confidence which is really important to have in the industry, before that I was quite easily doubting myself, about the normal human being things - like am I good enough? Will people like what I do? Will they understand?”

She finds music is like therapy, and writing music is something she’s done ever since she was 12 and penned her first song.

“I write a song pretty much every minute of my life, they are drawn in a weird place in my head,” she said.

After touring for most of last year Delilah is now glad to be back in the studio recording her second album, following her debut From The Roots Up last year.
