Travelodge is searching for four new sites to locate its hotels in London Fields, Old Street, Shoreditch and Hoxton as well as Stoke Newington and Stamford Hill, as part of its expansion plans in the capital.

The budget hotel chain wants to add 145 new hotels to the 59 it already owns in the London’s boroughs, and wants to find land to develop in London Fields, Old Street, Shoreditch and Hoxton as well as Stoke Newington and Stamford Hill.

Grant Hearn, chief executive of Travelodge Hotels, said there is currently a lack of affordable hotel accommodation close to central London.

“Opening hotels at our target locations in Hackney will ensure that the borough benefits from tourists visiting the capital who want to experience all that the local area has to offer, as well as be close to central London,” he said.

The company claims the four new hotels would create 80 jobs and generate £8m for the local economy.
