Tributes after missing Adam Connolly is found dead in Hackney

Tributes have flooded in for a woodworker from Clapton who went missing last Wednesday and was discovered dead on Saturday.

�A woodworker from Clapton who went missing on Wednesday of last week, has been found dead.

Police discovered the body of 29-year-old Adam Connolly on Saturday on Hackney Marshes, close to the Lee Valley Ice Rink.

Mr Connolly disappeared had last been seen on his bike in Prout Road, Clapton.

His disappearance sparked concern from his family and friends, who described it as “out of character”.

Concerned friends got together and put up posters of Mr Connolly around Hackney.

Close friend and musician Jack Savidge, of Friendly Fires, launched an appeal to find him on the band’s Facebook page and on Twitter.

After his body had been found, Friendly Fires thanked fans for helping with the search, saying: “The search for Adam Connolly has been called off and the news is bad. Thank you for all your help in spreading his picture and info.”

On another Facebook page that had been set up to find him, friend Emma Sutton thanked people on behalf of his girlfriend and family, saying: “Juliette and Adam’s family would like to thank everyone for their help and support these past few days.”

Former school friend, Jenni Sinclair said: “I went to school with Adam. I just want to say how deeply sad this news is. I am devastated.

“I hope he finds the peace now that he needed.”

Gemma Shadbolt, said: “I am so sorry to hear the sad news.

“Adam was one of my very first boyfriends and I will always have fond memories of him.”

At the time of his disappearance, close friend Matthew Collins, 36, said: “Adam has a very close-knit group of friends and family, who all love him dearly.

“He’s a very shy, private person and his disappearance is out-of-character.”

Mr Connolly’s funeral is due to take place on November 30 in Wanstead.

His death is not believed to be suspicious. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
