People across Hackney are paying tributes to military and civilian servicemen and women who gave their lives in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

Dignitaries, veterans, cadets and service personnel are assembling next to Hackney Town Hall in Reading Lane before marching to nearby St-John-at-Hackney Church in Lower Clapton Road. There, they will lay wreaths at the church cenotaph before taking their seats for an 11am service. At 12.10pm, the parade will reform and return to the Town Hall to lay wreaths at 12.35pm.

The memorial service takes on special significance as the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War looms next year.

Later this afternoon, dignitaries, veterans and cadets will assemble at Stoke Newington Town Hall in Stoke Newington Church Street, Stoke Newington at 12.15pm. There will be a wreath laying service at 12.30pm before a parade march past at 12:50pm.
