An 88-year-old man who died in Upper Clapton Road yesterday was hit by a lorry while using a pelican crossing.
Police are now appealing for witnesses and want to trace the driver of a car that was also at the crossing at the time of the collision. Scotland Yard said the car was dark and possibly a seven-seater.
The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is “assisting police with their enquiries”.
Emergency services were called to the scene, near the junction with Cleveleys Road just before 10.45am and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been told.
