Organisers of a rally which would have seen over 2,000 scooter enthusiasts descend on London Fields this weekend have moved location to the O2, after Hackney Council refused to give it the go-ahead.

Vespa World Days organisers had been planning the Europeanwide event since 2007 to celebrate the 60th anniversary the Vespa Club of Britain.

The will now run from Thursday June 14 to Sunday June 17 at the O2 in Greenwich, after organisers secured another location two weeks ago.

A council spokesman said: “The council decided to reject the application as the scale, nature and length of the event was likely to have a detrimental impact on the normal use of London Fields and its users.”
