Shoreditch’s most famous music pub The Old Blue Last – owned by lifestyle magazine Vice – wants to sell booze upstairs and open up part of the second floor.

Bosses at the Great Eastern Street venue have submitted a licensing application to Hackney Council hoping to extend the area it can sell alcohol.

And up to 40 punters could be allowed to enter the second floor of the building, although it won’t have music and the windows will all be closed to ensure neighbours aren’t disturbed too much.

The pub has played host to a wealth of top bands since Vice took it over in 2005. Arctic Monkeys, Amy Winehouse and Kylie Minogue have all performed at the former brothel, which has been open in one form or another for more than 300 years.
