Tottenham Hotspur are now unbeaten in five games at the national stadium and have won matches their in three different competitions

Mauricio Pochettino is hoping Spurs can make Wembley a fortress over the next week, but does know it will take time for the national stadium to really feel like home.

Tottenham Hotspur beat AFC Bournemouth 1-0 under the arch on Saturday and have now gone five games without a defeat in Brent.

Spurs have won in three different competitions at Wembley this season and host Liverpool on Sunday before entertaining old foes West Ham United on Wednesday (October 25) in the League Cup.

If Tottenham can win their next two games, talk of a curse will firmly be put to bed for good.

But Pochettino was quick to point out that Spurs didn’t always dominate at White Hart Lane.

During his first season in charge of the club, Tottenham lost on home soil to Liverpool, West Brom, Newcastle United and Stoke City in the opening months of the campaign.

“It was important (to win in the league at Wembley) because it means I can avoid you (journalists) for a week,” joked Pochettino.

“But I hope to avoid the question (about a curse) for the rest of the season, but it is so important we start to feel we can win here in the Premier League.

“Wembley needs to feel like home, but I do also remember more than three years ago when I arrived at the beginning it was difficult to adapt our game to White Hart Lane.

“If you remember there was a little bit of a topic about the size of the pitch and then we felt we could win and we were nearly invincible last season, so I think we only need time to perform as well in the games here.”

Although Spurs lost 2-1 against Chelsea at Wembley, they did beat Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in the Champions League under the arch.

It shows they can beat the best at their temporary home and they’ll look to do that against the Reds on Sunday.

Liverpool will go into the contest with just one league win from their last five games.
