Care workers across Hackney who provide care and help for vulnerable people in the borough, were honoured at a special ceremony at Hackney Town Hall.
The annual Hackney Care Worker of the Year awards were founded by the council last year to recognise the vital role care workers deliver to vulnerable people in difficult and challenging circumstances.
Nearly 300 of 800 local care workers were nominated by their employers and the people they provide care and help for.
Four winners received a trophy and certificate, along with four runners-up and 37 shortlisted nominees.
The council’s health chief, Cllr Feryal Demirci, was impressed by their “professionalism and dedication”.
“They’re a lifeline for some of our more vulnerable residents, especially for people who are housebound. Often care workers will be a person’s single link to the outside world - the only person they see in a day. We want people to see care work as a career of choice with really good opportunities to progress.”
