A woman escaped a flat fire in Hoxton yesterday morning.

Four engines and 21 firefighters were called to Wimbourne Street just before 11.10am and found part of a third-floor flat damaged by the blaze.

The woman managed to get out of the property before the brigade arrived and the fire was under control within 40 minutes.

Crews from Shoreditch, Islington, Euston and Dowgate attended. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
