Young Hackney sporting stars invited to apply for funding

Rising sports stars across Hackney are being invited to apply for funding to help them overcome the obstacles they face in reaching the top.

Financial and training support is available through the social enterprise GLL’s Sport Foundation (GSF), an independent scheme supporting athletes which works in partnership with national charity SportsAid to support the next generation of sporting talent.

Hackney table tennis player Zahna Hall, 15. who competed for England in the 6 Nations competition and who achieved great National success in 2013, was funded by the award last year.

She said: “My aim it to be ranked number one in England and then to compete for England at a senior level, this award is supporting me in reaching my goals.”
