Young Hackney star seeing if she has ‘Got What It Takes?’

A teenager and her mum are competing on a BBC show to win the chance to perform at BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend festival.

Amaria Braithwaite is one of eight contestants on the CBBC show, Got What It Takes’ with her mother Jasmine.

Hosted by X-Factor star Lauren, the show sees contestants and their mums undertake challenges against one another in a musical boot-camp, each one hoping to be crowned the star of the show.

The young singers also learn important lessons about the realities of the music industry and life as a ‘pop-star’ behind the glitz and glamour.

Four of the eight 30-minute episodes have currently broadcast. The show screens on Saturdays at 3.35pm.
