Green Party’s by-election candidate is promising to offer ‘a different voice’

Hackney’s Greens are the latest party to announce their candidate for the Hackney Central ward by-election in two weeks.

A Hackney resident for 20 years, Mustafa Korel runs a programme to engage young people in civic participation, as well as volunteering for the Turkish Cypriot Community Association.

“I have been ever hopeful for a different voice in Hackney which will speak up against injustice and which is owned by Hackney residents, a voice that understands social and environmental change go hand-in-hand, not one before the other” he said.

Mustafa hopes to pip his three opponents to the post at the election on Monday May 3, which coincides with the London Mayoral and Assembly elections.

He will be up against Hackney’s riot heroine Pauline Pearce who is running for the Liberal Democrats, as well as Tory candidate Andrew Boff and Labour candidate Ben Hayhurst.
