Black Meteors retained the Dickie Davies Cup after Jose Agua’s double defeated Niva-Unistream 2-0 on Hackney Marshes.

The Hackney & Leyton Premier Division sides showed why they reached the final of the competition with a match high in attacking flair, but it was the Meteors who consigned Niva to their second set of runners-up medals of the season, having already lost out in the Albert Daniels Senior Cup final.

The Meteors, inspired by man of the match Richard Owusu, will hope to book another final against Wounded Knee in the semi-finals of the Jack Walpole Cup – and they were ahead after 20 minutes through Agua’s composed finish.

Meteors were thankful to the heroics of goalkeeper S Olik on more than one occasion, but a second Agua strike midway through the second half put the game to bed.

Division One leaders FC Polit shared a six-goal thriller with Shakespeare FC as both sides celebrated promotion to the Premier Division with a 3-3 goal fest.

League leaders Polit led 2-1 at half-time but Ashley Lee equalised for Shakespeare. And, although Tommy Mayers regained Polit’s lead, Terry Butcher levelled again.

That leaves second-placed Shakespeare two points behind Polit but with two games in hand and a superior goal difference.

City Fliers celebrated the Division Three title after a resounding 5-1 success over Shoreditch Fire Penguins. Matt Stevens scored twice in the first half, with Andy Shaw and Klod Mata adding extra gloss to the scoreline after the break.

The win ensured the Fliers could not be caught by Birkbeck Orient, who were comfortable 3-0 winners over Delta Athletic. Second-placed Birkbeck were never in danger in their final league match as both Miles Creeney (2) and Joe Latimer signed their campaign off in style.

Daniel Crockett’s double helped third-placed FC Duchess to beat Regents Park Rovers 3-0 – and Duchess still have two games to play in the promotion battle.

Division Four has new leaders as FC Haggerston romped to an 8-1 win over bottom-placed East London.

A Shabi’s hat-trick and doubles from Sam Anjorin and Pete Moncur took Haggerston two points clear of Maynell, who lost 3-0 to Boston Celtic.
