As the temperature continues to rise in London, so does the competition in the North East London Cricket League, where only three points separate first and ninth place.

In Springfield Park, Coach & Horses enjoyed victory over Camel CC with two overs to spare thanks to the formidable bowling of Mason Jarrett (3-9) and Joynal Abedin (2-9).

Nick Mehta (39) and Andrew Miller (32) restored hope for Camel with a disciplined stand to get the total to three figures, but Coach polished off the tail for 106 after 32 overs.

In reply, James Moore (56) was ably supported by the Coach top-order as the run-rate earned them victory, despite Camel astutely rotating their bowling.

It was a similar story at Millfields, where Clapton & Oval beat Broadway Market by seven wickets after removing the top three batsmen in quick succession thanks to sharp catching from wicket-keeper Jamie Doe and tight bowling from Ishmail Matvad and Jim O’Reilly.

Jasper Middleton (38 not out) offered some stout resistance to give the total a respectable gloss.

Broadway’s bowlers probed away in reply, as captain Steve Wells posed a threat with his challenging off-stump line, but Ibrahim Mulla (42 not out) and Nick Kelly (25no) eased Clapton to a seven-wicket win.
