Hackney super flyweight hopes to hear back from BBBofC this week

Hackney’s Matthew Chanda is waiting to hear this week from the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) as to when he will be facing Charlie Edwards for his British title.

The fight between the two super flyweights had gone out to purse offers.

Chanda was a good class amateur with the Crown & Manor BC in Hoxton, where he won two national titles as well as enjoying success on the London scene.

Homerton’s Ohara Davies, who lost his unbeaten record against Josh Taylor of Scotland, took to social media to explain his recent defeat.

“I couldn’t breathe, blood was coming out of my nose constantly,” Davies posted on Twitter.

The Hackney boxer had nowhere near the amateur pedigree of Taylor, who was part of the Great Britain team that fought at the 2012 Olympics.

There is every chance that Davies can come again, with the defeat to Taylor hopefully just being a setback on his way to the top.
