Bloody Lads CC came out on top against Clapton & Oval in their North East London League clash at a damp London Fields.
Both sides paid tribute to the late Alex Beckett before play began, with BLCC’s James Mulvey (91) and Dave Nottingham (21) putting on a century stand.
Max Bennett added a cultured 39 and Solomon Sule-Legbe hit a useful 28, as Abdul (4-23) and Marcus (3-36) shared bowling honours.
Sule-Legbe and James McAndrew (2-19) had early success with the ball in reply and wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as Matt O’Neill (3-17) shone and Clapton & Oval slumped to 59-7 in the 17th over.
Ishmael (62 not out) and Taha (34 not out) saved some face with an eight-wicket stand before heavy rain and bad light forced the sides off and BLCC claimed victory on run rate.
Daman secured their first win of the season with a 105-run success over Tower Hamlets at a soggy Springfield Park.
Captain Faizal Patel (71) led the way as they piled up 287-8 from their 35 overs, with Niyaz Shekh (57) and Afzal Ussen (33) also making starts.
Tower Hamlets struggled in reply, despite a valiant 66 from Muhammad Sayeed, and closed on 183-7.
Pacific CC also toasted their first-ever North East London League win against Camcel at Millfields Park.
Batting first in persistent rain, they slipped to 20-4 after eight overs before number six Ben Stockton steadied the ship with an accomplished 82 off just 62 deliveries.
Mutz Siddiqui (18) and John Ormesher (29) gave useful support as Pacific reached 194 in the 39th over.
Camel fought bravely in reply with four of their batsmen passing the 20-run mark in the face of some tight bowling and sharp fielding.
Ormesher (3-29) was the pick of the Pacific attack, as James McGinnigle (2-32), Bing Stanley (2-12) and Aroon Korgaonkar (1-34) also had success with the ball to dismiss Camel for 157 in the 37th over.
