Owner Bobby Kasanga hoping it will be a chance for inmates to learn about rehabilitation and successful stories of life after prision
Hackney Wick owner Bobby Kasanga has revealed the Essex Senior League club will be going to prison soon to take on a team of inmates.
A statement on his Twitter page on Monday afternoon read: “Hackney Wick are going to prison. The Wickers will be taking a team to HMP Stocken to take on a team of inmates.
“This will be a chance for the inmates to learn about rehabilitation and successful stories of life after prison.”
It is one of many inspiring gestures Kasanga has done with the Old Spotted Dog club since taking over, but their next match in the division will be tomorrow (Friday).
Wick travel to local rivals Tower Hamlets for a 7,45pm kick-off with confidence having defeated fellow strugglers Burnham Ramblers 4-0 last night (Wednesday).
Hackney went into that match off the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Woodford Town (2017) on Saturday, which had extended their winless run in the Essex Senior League to three games, but they are full of confidence again now.
