Essex Senior League: Hoddesdon Town 3 Clapton 0

Clapton fell to a 3-0 defeat to Hoddesdon Town with a new-look squad in their Essex Senior League clash.

Goals from Kane Lowe, Courtney Clay and substitute Imani Matthews sealed the three points for Town at Lowfield last night.

Lowe opened the scoring in the 43rd minute and Clay doubled his side’s lead in the 73rd before Matthews came off the bench and fired home in the 90th minute.

Manager Jonny Fowell tweeted after the match: “Proud of the boys tonight, wasn’t our night missing to many players but the boys who came in did well and with some extra games and fitness will do well.

“Thought we had the better of the game just three mistakes cost us.”

The Tons had to go into the match without the likes of Ryan Reed, Steven Sardinha, Jay Morris, Tayo Adoweur and Andy Greenslade.

He added: “People have asked me why I’ve let all my players leave, it’s simple football is a short career go as high as you can, I’ve helped boys I’ve never met or spoken to on Twitter wth new clubs, international clearance, physio, and other things.”

Clapton will now travel away to Saffron Walden Town on Saturday as they look to bounce back.
