Essex Senior League: Saffron Walden Town 4 Clapton 0

Clapton fell to a second consecutive defeat in the Essex Senior League as they lost 4-0 to in-form Saffron Walden Town.

Goals from Lee Sawyer, Lewis Francis, Jamie Solkhon and Craig Calver sealed the three points for the Bloods and sent the Tons home empty-handed.

Sawyer slotted home a penalty in the 19th minute to open the scoring before Francis doubled his side’s lead in the 39th minute after a great build up play from Dan Trendall and Sawyer.

Solkhon then stretched the lead to 3-0 early in the second-half to put the game out of sight.

Calver then slotted a shot into the back of the net to make it 4-0 and seal the comfortable win for his side.

The Tons will now head to West Essex as they look to bounce back to winning ways on Saturday.

Manager Jonny Fowell will be working hard to strengthen his side after handing opportunitites to a handful of his players to play at Bostik North level.
