Essex Senior League: Hackney Wick’s game with Southend Manor abandoned after serious injury

The clash at the Old Spotted Dog had to be abandoned after only four minutes due to a potential leg break
Hackney Wick’s Essex Senior League match with Southend Manor last night came to an unfortunate early end after a Manor player suffered a serious injury.
With only four minutes on the clock at the Old Spotted Dog, play halted after one of the visitors appeared to suffer a broken leg.
After a short period of time, it was agreed the game would be abandoned so the player in question could receive the necessary treatment.
Southend Manor released the following statement, it read: “A tough night for us, unsure to what extent the injury is. It’s an open wound and we are praying for no break.
“We will Ellis Skidmore a speedy recovery. We pray it’s not a long-term injury. Get well soon Ellis. Game abandoned after four minutes.”
Manor boss Adam Peek added: “Wish my player Ellis Skidmore a speedy recovery after a bad injury tonight. Stay strong Ell, look forward to having you back soon.”
A statement from Hackney Wick read: “We wish a speedy recovery to Ellis from Southend Manor.”
