Clapton manager Jonny Fowell admits he expected a tough test but was pleased to get off to a winning start against Tower Hamlets.

A late 93rd minute winner from attacker Jeffrey Cobblah sealed the three points for the Tons against their east London neighbours at the Old Spotted Dog.

“I did actually, they’ve got some new players, Sipho Mtyanda a few others,” Fowell said,

“They come at us quick with some good passing and a few good chances on goal.

“I think we dominated the game more so than them and the chances we had I felt we deserved the win.”

The boss also revealed it was like De Ja Vu as Cobblah scored in the final minute against AJ Ashanike’s men last season as well.

“Jeff scored the same time last season in the last minute and AJ come up to me and said I can’t believe he just done it again to us.

“I think the best time to score is the last minute of any game but I think we had two good chances in the first-half that we should have scored and I think we had three chances in the second-half.

“I think overall we deserved it on the balance of play.”
