The midfielder's absence will open the door for others to impress on the pre-season tour
Eric Dier's tough time with fitness continued this month when the club detected a medical procedure that had to be corrected.
The Spurs midfielder has had a number of issues since he suffered a thigh injury at the end of October in 2018.
Not too long after, during December, he spent a lengthy amount of time out when he had his appendix removed.
Eventually Dier got back to full fitness again in January, but a virus hit him and saw him sidelined until March.
A hip injury picked up on international duty was the latest issue to trouble the versatile ace for the majority of April before he returned to feature at the end of season.
However, Dier has now had to contend with another issue and Tottenham Hotspur have revealed he will not travel out to Asia.
An official club statement read: "Eric has undergone a medical procedure to correct an issue detected during medical assessments on the first day of pre-season training.
"Following the successful procedure, Eric will now undertake a short period of rehabilitation. He will therefore not travel on the club's pre-season tour to Singapore and Shanghai."
Dier's absence will perhaps open the door for a younger member in the squad to catch the eye of boss Mauricio Pochettino.
He handed debuts to George Marsh and Oliver Skipp last season and the pair will hope to be involved again while out in Asia.
