Gladstone Wanderers gave fellow Division Three side Boston Celtic a 5-0 thrashing to book a place in the second round of the Jack Morgan Cup.

A hat-trick from Joao Suareis and a brace from Ian Hunter made a mockery of Celtic’s superior league position on a fine afternoon for Wanderers.

Michael Johnson’s stunning first-half hat-trick sent Bethune of Division Four on their way to a shock 6-2 win over Division Two side BG United. Bethune withstood a late rally from BG, in which Ilko Yakimov and Dsislav Georrien struck consolations.

Division Two rivals Delta Athletic and FC Grove played out an eight-goal thriller, with five different goalscorers helping Delta prevail 5-3. Nyron Dyer, Albert Banrole, Daniel Veli, Sultan Abbas and Barley Morgan were all on target for Athletic, while Jason Orr, Lee Southcott and Curtis Pond responded for Grove.

A goal in each half by Tom Harney earned Football Club 22 a 2-0 victory over Maynell, while Division Three side Regent’s Park Rovers sealed a comfortable victory over Birkbeck Orient A. Flying high in Division Two, Orient succumbed to strikes from Jack Turner, Max Langlands and Stuart Taggart.

There was another upset between Division Two side Shoreditch Fire Penguins and Stratford Athletic, as the Penguins lost 3-1 to their Division Three opponents. The Falaise brothers, James and Jamie, and Jude Warnes were all on target to seal Stratford’s progress.

Another Division Two side who became the scalp of lower opposition were Angel & Crown, who crashed to a 5-1 defeat to Boroughs United.

Boroughs, who are top of Division Three, were always in control with David Frost, Denzle Reid, Michael Romeo, Jordan Lynch-Mavanis and Adedayo Ayantuga all on the scoresheet.

In the Premier Division, Shakespeare lost ground on Clapton Rangers at the top, after drawing 3-3 with Mile End.

The lead changed several times, and Shakespeare were fortunate to salvage a point after Ashley Lee’s stunning late leveller.

A brace from Jason Burwood and a Clifford Merry strike had put Mile End ahead, responding to an earlier effort from Lee and another from Doren John for the Shakes.

Athletic Angels continue to rise in Division One, recording their third win following a belated start to the season at the expense of Lions FC.

An Ashley Green hat-trick guided Angels to a 6-3 victory in which Andrew Brockbank, Sam Turpin and Jasmit Jabbal also netted.

Aldo Bullaj and Antmir Karamdiat both scored twice as Riviera maintained their 100 per cent record, defeating Dynamics 5-4. Elton Dervishaj struck a decisive fifth for Riviera, meaning Murat’s hat-trick and another goal for Ibrahim Sal Jr were merely academic.

In Division Four, Wayne Bedier’s double was backed up by David Dice as Renaissance continued their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over Birkbeck Orient B.

South London Sharks defeated Eastway Olympia 2-1 courtesy of Joe Cridland and Chris Green strikes, while Woodford Rovers proved too strong for Bow Badgers – a Karmah Marvin brace helped Rovers to a 6-2 victory.
