Zain Haidery and Mo Alikhal sealed victory for Hackney as they beat Hampstead to secure their first appearance in the final of the Middlesex Under-21 Development League.

Hackney dismissed their opponents for 129, with Ishaq Rapheel the pick of the bowlers and ably supported by Rob Chadwick.

Chadwick and Scott Doody then provided Hackney with a solid start to their run chase with a quickfire 50 partnership, before Hamza Omar made some stylish strokes on his way to 21.

With only 48 needed, it should have been plain sailing for the east London side but over-confidence or nerves meant that wickets fell in batches and Hackney were eight down, still needing 20.

But Haidery kept his composure at one end and Alikhal finished the job off in style, hitting a six and a four to make history and take Hackney through to the final.
