Hackney’s Olympic Karate Club won five medals at the Kyoji Kai Open Championships at Redbridge Sports Centre.
Coaches Tyrone Jeffers and Ade Bamiduro took six members of the squad to face competitors from around the globe in the tournament.
And they saw seven-year-old Nadaysha Peart win kata and kumite gold, as well as bronze in the under-nine team kata, with Thanh Le and Aaron Cornish.
The trio all train at Queensbirgde Sports & Community Centre and Jeffers said: “Two months before this championship we were not quite ready and had a lot of work to do. With open championships you have to be on your game, but we have talented kids here and when the coaches step it up the kids react.
“We have a busy few months ahead and you can see a bigger squad from us with over 30 competing on April 29 in Uxbridge at Brunel University.”
