London Lions moved into the semi-finals of the BBL Cup with their second win over Worcester Wolves at the weekend.

The league leaders defended home court to advance to the last four with the Wolves unable to match their run to the final from last season.

The Lions poured in 33 points in the opening quarter before the Wolves gradually fought back to stay in contention as the quarter ended 33-24.

The second quarter saw the visitors weather the storm and reduce the deficit as Jordan Whelan and Deshawn Freeman were active. A late rally from Brandon Peel ended the half with the Lions 53-48 to the good.

The deficit was still five points in the third, but in the fourth Worcester tied the game at 74-74.

However, Jordan Spencer scored the next eight points and eased Lions ahead before Andre Lockhart knocked down a deep three off a Justin Robinson assist to take the game away from the Wolves.

In all, Lions knocked down 10 triples in the win and went 19 of 21 from the free throw line, while the Wolves struggled to find their range from outside after shooting just 17 per cent.

Spencer finished with a season-high 26 points along with seven rebounds and five assists with Peel and Robinson both adding valuable scoring support with 20-plus points apiece.

The Lions now look forward to a double-header in the League at the weekend with the Newcastle Eagles visiting on Friday and the Leicester Riders at the Copper Box on Sunday.

Lions: Spencer 26, Peel 23, Robinson 20, Tabb 15, Okoro 5, Lockhart 3, Guede 3, Larkai 2, Bristol 2.
