Hackney celebrated promotion to London 3 North West with a convincing 32-0 victory over Cheshunt – and club captain Alex O’Hara has already set his sights on another promotion.

The result caps a remarkable season for the Griffins after an 18-match unbeaten run propelled them to the title, despite suffering three defeats in their opening four games.

And thanks to a five point deduction for title rivals Belsize Park for fielding an ineligible player earlier in the season, Hackney took the title with ease and O’Hara is keen to hold on to that winning feeling.

“The winners of our league for the past four years have won the league above (London 3 North West), so we’re looking to carry that on next year and see if we can make the next step up straight away,” O’Hara said.

“It’ll be a challenge, as it’s another long season and if we can keep the same core of players that got us promoted this year, then why not? We might as well give it a go and see where we stack up.”
