Ronnie O’Sullivan will be looking to claim an eighth Dafabet Masters title at Alexandra Palace this week.
The 42-year-old from Chigwell plays Hong Kong’s New Malden-based Marco Fu in the first round tomorrow (January 16) with a quarter-final showdown with Mark Allen awaiting the winner.
The 31-year-old Northern Irishman signed off in his 6-3 first round success over Belgium’s Luca Brecel with a superb 120 break on the opening day of the £600,000 invitational tournament on Sunday.
The first big-name casualty came when world number one and three-time Masters champion Mark Selby was edged out in a tense 11th-frame decider by twice Masters winner Mark Williams.
“I’m over the moon,” said Williams, 42, who is set to meet either Barry Hawkins or Kyren Wilson in the last eight.
“I’m playing a hell of a lot better than I’ve done for many years.
“If I can keep playing like that then someone’s going to have to play well to beat me.”
The Masters runs until Sunday (January 21) and tickets are still available online at worldsnooker.seetickets.com/tour/dafabet-masters-2018 or by calling 0871 620 7052.
