Homerton super-bantamweight Lucien Reid kept his unbeaten professional record intact as he stopped Trayan Slavev to secure his fifth straight victory on a Frank Warren promotion at York Hall.

The Hackney boxer immediately took the fight to his opponent, looking to inflict the perfect punch on Slavev and finish the contest as early as possible.

Slavev tried to stand his ground and use his height and reach advantage, but Reid remained unfazed by anything his opponent threw at him.

The fight was stopped in the second round when a strong right hook from Reid put Slavev in serious trouble.

The 26-year-old was unable to move, and while he kept his gloves up high, he was taking a lot of punches to the head, with referee Kieran McCann calling a halt to the contest just two minutes and 36 seconds in.

Following the fight Reid told the Gazette: “I knew he was hurt when that body shot landed, that’s why he folded up.

“He was very brave, as he was taking a lot of hard punches. It was a job well done in the end.”

Reid’s trainer Peter Sims added: “Lucien is now punching twice as hard since he turned professional, so that can only be a positive thing moving forward.”
